Buffalo Valley is a large conservation area bordering the serene Goukamma River just two kilometres from the warm Indian Ocean. Buffalo Valley's three self-catering timber lodges have an equipped kitchen and sleep between four to six people.  Guests can view a variety of birdlife in the mixed coastal dune thicket and fynbos and gain access to the Goukamma Nature Reserve.

Overlooking a tranquil birdvlei, this magical hideaway has a deck design around the milkwood trees. The living area consist of a huge fireplace and has a character of its own. Linger around the fire at the spacious outdoor braai area. 

The sleeping arrangements are two separate cabins with separate entrances which have one King bed for two adults and two single beds. Fall asleep to a chorus of frogs and wake to the sound of singing birds.

Vlei Lodge is one of three lodges available in Buffalo Valley. The three lodges are all out of sight and sound of each other with complete privacy, providing each with its own unique environment within the 150-hectare conservation area. Each lodge offers safe seclusion where fireplaces and sundecks ensure year-round comfort.

Hidden in a riverine forest right on the edge of the Goukamma River, the spacious sky lit Forest Lodge perfectly complements its stunning surroundings. Guests can relax on the magnificent deck built around bird-filled milkwood trees as the river glides by. Or they may choose to follow a short boardwalk to a private jetty from which they can fish, canoe and swim.

The two bedrooms which sleep two people each win an en-suite toilet at the one bedroom and a shower at the other. The back opens to a big deck in the treetops overlooking the Goukamma River and a walkway takes you to the riverside.

No firewood is allowed on the reserve - please bring charcoal or eco-logs and firelighters.
