CapeNature is constantly working towards greater inclusion for people with disabilities – not only for visitors, but also for its own teams on the ground. The organisation currently employs seven people with disabilities.

The aim is to ultimately create a disability policy and – in line with the provincial government’s goal for its EPWP – ensure that 2% of the workforce comprise people with disabilities.

CapeNature is running ongoing workshops addressed by a disability consultant, discussing issues such as recruitment advertisement, reasonable accommodation for people with disabilities, and a holistic approach to disability integration at work.

Reasonable accommodations already in place include a hiking trail accessible to blind people at Hottentots Holland Nature Reserve, toilet facilities for disabled people at Kogelberg and offices upgraded to cater for persons with disabilities at Limietberg.

It is CapeNature’s aim to assist workers with disabilities to perform and grow in their positions and the organisation also welcomes partnership with non-governmental organisations in this field.
