Western Cape State of Conservation Report 2020 - Webinar Discussion
CapeNature proudly hosted a webinar discussion on the Western Cape State of Conservation Report (SoCR 2020) on 20th May 2021.
The biodiversity of the Western Cape is characterised by a wide variety of ecosystem types, species abundance and high levels of endemism. This means that many species found here occur nowhere else in the world! While our biodiversity provides many benefits to the economy and human wellbeing, it is unfortunately also under threat. The SoCR presents the status of priority conservation indicators as at the end of 2019. While acknowledging the challenges and threats to biodiversity, there are also significant gains to be celebrated, such as the expansion of the conservation estate.
