Plettenberg Bay in the Garden Route has recently been awarded at the Wildlife and Environment Society of South Africa with a Blue flag for 2023/2024 and a Green Coast Award. The Blue Flag status is a huge achievement for beaches, marines, and boating industries, as it is recognised world-wide for its eco-labels. Six beaches received full Blue Flag statuses, A time to shine!

Families, kids, lovers and friends, everyone should take a break from normality as we know it and immerse themselves in the serenity of taking ‘the scenic route, better known as, the Garden Route’. Visitors can enjoy an array of hiking trails. Robberg has been named as one of the Top 35 Hikes in the world, so get excited! Spot ample rare species and plant-life like no other, go on long or short day-walks, or get your adventure-on with kayaking/canoeing, angling, swimming, or keep it cool and sweet with a fun picnic in the sun or under your favourite tree, the choice is yours. Make a stop at our new Kiosk for a coffee and a bit to eat before your journey home. Located close to the Garden Route town of George and easily accessible from Mossel Bay, Knysna and Oudtshoorn, the Outeniqua Nature Reserve is about a five-hour drive from Cape Town, explore the rich diversity on the walking and hiking trails. Named after the Western keurboom tree, Keurboom Nature reserve is a sanctuary for indigenous trees, including the Cape beech, giant stinkwoods and the beautiful Outeniqua yellowwoods. A lush destination filled with an abundance of plant life, the reserve can be explored on walks, boat trips and canoe trails. Swimming and bird watching are also popular activities.

CapeNature is excited to announce the launch of South Africa's first slow hiking trail at the beautiful De Mond Nature Reserve, just a stone’s throw from the historic seaside town of Arniston. The Damara Trail is a new immersive experience in nature and invites visitors to slow down and enjoy the environment at a leisurely pace. Launched in celebration of World Tourism Day, held annually on 27 September 2024, the trail embraces this year’s theme of peace.
