Celebrate Water Week!

5 Feb 2025

Hey kids, did you know that there's a whole week dedicated to one of the most important things on Earth? It’s called Water Week! Every year, people all over the world celebrate this special week to remind us how important water is to life. From the water you drink to the water you splash around in while swimming, it’s everywhere!

CapeNature will be jumping on the bandwagon and will be hosting a ton of water themed events during the Month of March.

Water Week happens because we need to take care of this precious resource. Did you know that over 70% of our planet is covered by water? But not all of it is drinkable! Only about 1% is fresh water that we can use. That’s why it’s super important to save water whenever we can! We need it to grow food, clean ourselves, make electricity, and even play sports.

During Water Week, people learn fun ways to save water. You can start by turning off the tap while brushing your teeth or taking shorter showers. You can also help spread the word to your friends and family about how to protect our water.

So, let’s celebrate Water Week by making sure we use water wisely and keep our planet healthy! After all, the world needs water, and so do we! If you want to join CapeNature for Water Week during March, let us know. Email learning@capenature.co.za.
