CapeNature is excited to announce the launch of South Africa's first slow hiking trail at the beautiful De Mond Nature Reserve, just a stone’s throw from the historic seaside town of Arniston. The Damara Trail is a new immersive experience in nature and invites visitors to slow down and enjoy the environment at a leisurely pace. Launched in celebration of World Tourism Day, held annually on 27 September 2024, the trail embraces this year’s theme of peace.

The Whale Festival in Hermanus is an annual celebration to showcase the town’s unique coastal beauty, marine life, and environmental conservation efforts. The festival aims to raise awareness about whale conservation, promote sustainable tourism, and provide an engaging and entertaining experience for visitors of all ages. The event will span over a weekend from 27 September to 29 September and is always a major crowd puller for the Overstrand region.

The West Coast is a magical place during flower season, transforming into a vibrant tapestry of blooming colours and intoxicating scents. This September, immerse yourself in this natural wonder by exploring Rocherpan Nature Reserve - just 25 km north of Velddrif. This gem offers eco-friendly accommodation, breathtaking scenery, and a pristine private beach. The reserve's local pan is a haven for birdwatchers, featuring majestic pink flamingos against a stunning backdrop, perfect for your photo album.

CapeNature is proud to announce the launch of its new podcast and video series, Green Noise, for World Tourism Day, September 27, 2024. The series aims to create a bold and impactful platform to explore the intersection of nature, conservation, and tourism, celebrating the rich biodiversity of the Western Cape while fostering critical conversations about sustainability, ecotourism, and community empowerment.

As spring breathes new life into the landscape, it's the perfect time to explore CapeNature's captivating trails. With options suitable for hikers, walkers, or runners of all levels, you can enjoy the fresh air and vibrant scenery while creating lasting memories.

CapeNature celebrates its 10^th annual Access Week between the 21^st and 27^th of September 2024 this year. The public is invited to access any one of 24 selected Provincial nature reserves across the Western Cape for free during this time. Visitors will be allowed day entry at no cost to enjoy activities such as hiking, bird watching, swimming and mountain biking. CapeNature will also be facilitating a variety of programmes for various community groups during this period.

CapeNature invites prospective parties, specialising in adventure, cultural and heritage, and events sectors, to submit detailed business proposals.

CapeNature is proud to announce that Die Plaat Beach, located within CapeNature’s Walker Bay Nature Reserve, just east of Hermanus, has been featured on Condé Nast Traveler’s prestigious list of The Best Beaches in the World. The only beach in South Africa to be recognised among a list of 34 beaches worldwide.

CapeNature is looking for a suitable local individual or company (residing within the local municipality of the nature reserve) who would be interested in providing the professional services of managing and operating an on-reserve mobile kiosk, selling of beverages and packaged edibles at Keurbooms River Nature Reserve near Plettenberg Bay, in the Western Cape.

CapeNature is thrilled to announce the identity of its new Cubs Club ambassador, Kai the Cape leopard cub. Kai was introduced to the public and a group of Cubs Club members on Friday, 5 July 2024, for the very first time.
