Comedians Commend CapeNature’s Conservation Efforts

Freshwater fish of Meiringspoort
A freshwater fish survey was conducted in the poort following a report of the presence of alien and invasive sharptooth catfish in the river. CapeNature faunal ecologists sampled seven sites in three days and detected healthy populations comprising several size classes for all three indigenous minnow species.

On Friday, 3 June 2022 the Western Cape Government and CapeNature, celebrated the launch of the Berg Estuary as a Ramsar site with the unveiling of an official Ramsar signboard located at the start of the estuary, ahead of World Environment Day.

It is not possible to talk about the biodiversity of the Western Cape Province without mentioning the smallest world-renowned floral kingdom, the Greater Cape Floristic Region. This floristic region consists of the Core Cape sub-region and the Extra Cape sub-region respectively, better known as the Fynbos Biome and the Succulent Karoo Biome.
CapeNature contributes to the City Nature Challenge 2022
The City Nature Challenge is an international BioBlitz type competition that took place between 29 April and 2 May this year. Twelve South African municipalities participated, with six of these being in the Western Cape including the City of Cape Town, Stellenbosch, Garden Route, Overstrand, Southern Overberg and West Coast.
