Safety fire
CapeNature honours its firefighters ahead of International Firefighters' Day
On 30 April 2024, CapeNature hosted a firefighters appreciation event at Assegaaibosch Nature Reserve to honour the brave men and women who were on the frontlines during the Western Cape’s fire season.
Be Fire Safe with CapeNature this fire season
Due to the high number of fires that occur as a result of negligence, it is critical that everyone is aware of the significant role they can play in stopping veldfires before they start. Veldfires place all fire-fighters at risk as they put their lives in danger to protect life, property, and biodiversity.
CapeNature urges the public to practice fire safety this fire season
CapeNature responded to 76 fires resulting in 31 198.7 hectares of natural and other veld burnt during the 2020/21 fire season. As we enter the 2021/22 fire season, CapeNature appeals to the public to help prevent fires and report smoke or fire.
Fire awareness - BE THE HERO THIS SUMMER
Reporting a fire quickly can mean the difference between minor damage and total devastation. Fires can be reported by dialling 112 from a cell phone or 10177 from a landline.
